The Shropshire Guild of Contemporary Craft encourages the finest design ability coupled with the highest quality of workmanship within its membership, whilst aiming to promote a greater comprehension and appreciation of design-led craftwork within Shropshire.
The aim of the Guild is to promote quality of craftsmanship and contemporary creativity through exhibitions, including ‘Showing Off’ held twice a year in Ludlow and the Shropshire Guild’s annual flagship exhibition ‘Gorgeous’, held in November in Ironbridge.
These remarkable selling exhibitions of inspirational craftwork showcase a wide selection of quality, contemporary work by around thirty-five Guild members and guests including ceramics, furniture, glass, jewellery, textiles and sculpture.
Exhibitors for each event are carefully selected each year to ensure there is a diverse range of products with both affordable and higher priced items across a range of disciplines; every item on display reflects an exceptionally high level of craftsmanship and design.
The Guild also offers its members support and opportunities for their professional development.
A voluntary board of members manage the group to ensure that it takes its direction from designer makers with a genuine interest in promoting Shropshire crafts.
