Based in the picturesque village of Cardington in the heart of the Shropshire hills countryside, Stevie Walker makes a unique range of textile panels, pictures, jewellery and accessories.

She works using a variety of both traditional and contemporary textile techniques including printing and dying, hand and machine embroidery, felt making, needle felting and computer generated imaging. Most pieces of work are a combination of some of these techniques (life gets boring if you don’t experiment!)

Materials vary from silk, linen, calico, hand-made felt and mixed media, sometimes using her own handspun threads and fibres to enrich the work.

Stevie studied at Leicester University where she gained her degree in Combined Arts and later gained a teaching certificate.

A City and Guilds medallist and Charles Henry Foyle Stitched Textiles Award Finalist, Stevie is inspired primarily by the magic and atmosphere of the Shropshire landscape.

She is a Member of:
Shropshire Guild of Contemporary Craft
Marches Makers Textile Exhibiting Group

Her work can be found at ‘Ippikins’, Much Wenlock, local Galleries and shops, Contemporary Craft shows (such as Gorgeous, Ironbridge, Ludlow Medieval Fayre etc) and at Exhibitions (previous venues include The Gateway, Shrewsbury, The Secret Hills Discovery Centre, Craven Arms, The Courtyard Theatre, Hereford and the Shropshire Wildlife Trust).

If you are interested in textile workshops Stevie teaches at Westhope College and also offers many freelance workshops at her studio or in Cardington village hall and for local authorities (youth groups, people with learning difficulties and mental health groups). If you would like to do some hands-on creative stuff do get in touch.
