Sue Christian

Sue at loomSue weaves at home on the Shropshire/Welsh border – the Welsh side of Offa’s Dyke; the English side of the border. After a life-long interest in textiles – sewing, knitting, spinning – she finally has the time to devote to her main love, weaving.

Currently Sue has two looms; a small one for sampling and for narrower items like scarves, and a much larger Swedish loom that is both her main workhorse and a beautiful example of wooden engineering.

Using yarns made from natural fibres such as silk and wool Sue creates one-off hand woven original textiles, often dying the yarns herself before weaving. Her enthusiasm for colour and pattern is reflected in the vibrancy of her designs.

This collection includes scarves, shawls and throws.

Sue is also inspired by the functional beauty of traditional Scandinavian textiles, and as a result produces a range of hand woven domestic textiles in linen and cotton, including individually designed hand woven towels – the ultimate luxury for the kitchen or bathroom that has everything!

Commissions are always welcome; whether it’s a scarf to compliment your new coat, silk stoles for your bridesmaids, or hand towels to match your Aga. Please do get in touch to discuss your requirements.
